Music was a lifeline and a form of resistance for many, but it could also be a path to hubris; Gideon and his family could not agree on which it was.
In an age of unfolding atrocity, what do you do when the music of personal solace can be used as a tool of your oppression? Amid hate, war, and propaganda, should your music play on no matter what the cost?
"Gideon: a play with music" challenges audiences to engage deeply with history, find hidden hope, and draw strength from art as we confront upheaval in our own present.
The melodies of the past reverberate in the present.
Gideon Klein was a bright and brilliant young composer living in Prague in the 1930s.
